Located north of the 405 Freeway and east of Springdale Street in Westminster, Indian Village is a unique collection of cottage-like homes that was built from about 1955 to 1963 by various builders. Notable for its Native American street names like Navajo, Sioux and Cherokee, these were originally affordable family-style homes built on large lots for growing families. Today, while they still appeal to this type of home-buyer, they also suit many different types of homeowners.
Many of the homes had honey oak plank flooring installed by the builder throughout the living areas. I have been told by some original owners that they also had incinerators located near the rear of the property for burning refuse. While you can find those beautiful original wood floors in many homes today, the incinerators did not last long, and you won't find one today. Probably a good thing.
